greys river 2014

Every. Single. Year this trip comes RIGHT when i need it most. right when i need an escape to clear my head and figure out what to do next. this year was no different! they greys river is like the neighborhood you grew up in as a kid, its like that to me. i know that canyon, i know my favorite spots to camp etc. this place is honestly my home far away from home.
Zac and i left friday around 5, scarlett basically slept the entire time, we got up to the campsite right at 10, we talked with the family shortly before we all crashed in bed. The next morning we woke up and my dad made us all omlets, there is something about camping and my dads cooking...its THE BEST. after breakfast zac, myself, my sister katie and her husband devin went for a 4-wheeler ride to reys spring which is a pipe sticking out the side of a mountain and out of it comes the coldest, freshest water i have ever had. then all the boys went 4-wheeling and hiking and fishing at barstow lake. i took a nap and me and katie made over 35 headbands for scarlett! it was so much fun! once the boys got back we went river rafting and after that we went to shoot some guns! i used to like shooting guns then a few years passed where i didnt shoot at all so when zac got his gun and we went together i felt good about it...till i shot his gun and cried because it scared me...i know i know im a wuss. so in wyoming there were like 6-7 different guns to shoot and i tried them all....and i still didnt like them except my dads .22 revolver because it didnt kick at all! after we went shooting we went back to camp and had hot dogs and smores and just talked around the campfire. it was such a fun weekend! the next morning we had pancakes for breakfast then packed camp up and headed home. the drive seemed longer, there was crazy traffic, a spider on the outside of the window, and a fussy scarlett with a blowout diaper. but it was still such a fun much needed weekend! next year we will definitely stay more than just a day. scarlett was in heaven because she got SO much attention! haha she loved to see all her family and she slept better up there than she does at home!
